Sandra is one of our very first Riders and has been a regular right from the start. Whether she comes to RideBerlin to work out, disconnect from her day-to-day or just indulge in some girls talk on a Friday night… one thing is for sure: she always has fun!

To Sandra, RideBerlin is a team sport, that has changed her life – mentally, physically and socially…

How long have you been with RideBerlin? 

I have been a Rider since May 2016, so practically from the beginning. RideBerlin was about to open and Kirill and Till visited the hotel I work at. They introduced themselves, told me about their ideas and we exchanged contact details. Shortly after I started and now I try to Ride three times a week. Sometimes it doesn’t work out, but I am definitely there two times a week.

What do you enjoy most about RideBerlin? 

I enjoy the atmosphere: you always feel very welcome. It’s always fun and diverse. Every trainer rides differently, so there are many options to choose from. Even though it’s cardio and the moves are practically the same, it’s still very varied.

Whom do you like to Ride with most? 

Vicky is my absolute favorite, because she has a great energy that kind of transfers onto me during the Ride and also afterwards. She has a lot of charisma and those positive vibes motivate me. I also really enjoy riding with Fatima, because she has a lot of power. Sergej as well – both of them definitely push me to my limits. The most fun Ride is with Marcus, because he always tells a lot of jokes and chooses funny music that you won’t hear in the other Rides. Mayka is fun too, especially during our Friday night girl talk… which is always very entertaining!

What does RideBerlin mean to you? 

First of all, it means FUN – I have also met a lot of great people here. But RideBerlin also stands for challenge, every time, and especially after two weeks of vacation… then you really feel it. Physically it’s a completely different story than other work-outs –  it has changed my lifestyle. I am down from a size 40 onto a 36 and I’ll be running my first half marathon soon. I have also changed my diet… RideBerlin has definitely influenced my life.

How would you describe RideBerlin in three words?

Motivation. Heart rate. Team work. 

Team work, that’s interesting, considering you are alone on your bike… 

That’s true, but there’s always a team atmosphere. It starts with chatting to the others in the changing room and then during the Rides – depending on the trainer – you sometimes get divided into teams. Within those teams you really try to help and motivate each other to push through. That’s why I see it as a team sport… although in the end everybody rides for themselves.

What would you recommend to those who are planning their first Ride? 

I would definitely recommend to start out with a Rookie Ride. Palina and Mayka do a great job and explain a lot. I can recommend anyone to give it a try. For me it’s a work-out, where I can completely focus on myself and on the Ride… and tune out anything else. RideBerlin is the only place where I manage to really disconnect from the day-to-day.
